Introduction to Zen: Principles and Practices
On Saturday, March 27th, the Puget Sound Zen Center will hold a half-day class on the principles and practices of Zen. The class will include an introduction to the practice of zazen (sitting meditation), background information on the questions of who the Buddha was and what he taught, a historical sketch of Zen Buddhism and the Rinzai tradition, and discussion of the basic principles of Zen. The class will also discuss and practice aspects of the Zen form observed by the Puget Sound Zen Center, including tea, chanting, and zazen. There will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion.
The class, led by Koshin Chris Cain and David Steel, will meet from 9:00 AM to 1:00PM at the Zen Center. Please register in advance by calling 463-4332, or emailing office@pszen.org. The cost is Members $20, Non-members $25.
